What type of vehicle is used for the tours?

We use the best all-terrain vehicles, the HUMMER H2’s. They are air-conditioned, making it very comfortable in the warm months and seats are heated for those times when we head up to colder elevations. HUMMERS are legendary for their unparalleled stability and climbing ability. Mix in a little luxury and you’ve got the best vehicle for your adventure!

What do I need to bring along on my trip?

Just your sense of adventure and the right clothing. While your vehicle will be air-conditioned, the desert does have extremes. Some summer days can reach over 100 degrees and winters can bring surprisingly low temperatures. It is best to dress for the season in the event you will want to disembark from the vehicle for an up-close look at nature. Layering is always a good idea. If you get too warm, you can simply remove a layer or two. It is important to wear the right shoes too. You want to protect your feet. You will be, after all, out in the wilderness!

I want to bring some friends along. How many guests can your vehicle accommodate?

Each HUMMER can accommodate up to 5 passengers plus the guide. And take it from our guests who have traveled with us before…a full vehicle is even more fun! “It’s exciting,” says Mark, one of the Eco-Tour Guides. “Everyone is looking out a different window in a different direction. Everyone sees something different and each person is calling out to the others to look in their direction. It makes for an exhilarating journey!”

Will I see any wildlife?

You may! You certainly have a better chance with Elite Land Tours. With our pledge to “tread lightly”, our guides are the best at being able to take you to those locations where you have the best possible chances to see wildlife in their native habitat. Unlike other companies who use noisy vehicles that often scare off the wildlife, our quieter vehicles enable us to come very close indeed. Guests have seen many species of reptiles, jackrabbits, coyotes, bobcat, mule deer, big horn sheep, and a variety of other animals. What will you see?!

Is an all-terrain, backcountry adventure safe? What if there is a problem?

A backcountry adventure with Elite Land Tours is possibly the safest way you can experience the great outdoors. We use only new vehicles that are recognized for their safety and ability to handle all kinds of conditions. Additionally, our guides are CPR and First-Aid Certified and each vehicle is equipped with a first aid kit. The HUMMERS also have OnStar. By simply pressing the red button, our location information is transmitted to the OnStar Center and our call takes priority status on an Advisor’s screen for immediate assistance from police, fire, or emergency medical services (EMS).

What about weather restrictions?

Since you will riding in an enclosed, safe vehicle, weather is not a problem. We are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Are the guides knowledgeable?

You bet! All of our guides are well-trained. It is very important that our guides continue to acquire the most current data available. As members of the Desert Institute and the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, we attend many classes throughout the year. Our library of nature and history books is one of the most extensive in the Coachella Valley. As guides, we also enjoy sharing new information with each other. You’ll truly experience the benefit from all this when you take a tour with us.

Do you provide snacks and refreshments on the tours?

Yes, we provide plenty of quality snacks and refreshments. Each HUMMER is equipped with a state-of-the-art refrigerator that can hold a variety of drinks for everyone on the adventure. No one will leave thirsty! Our snacks do not contain artificial ingredients, preservatives or MSG. All our blends are custom made just for you!

Can you handle groups?

Yes we can. Call our office and talk to one of our tour consultants. He or she can assist you with any special needs you may have.
